It sounds like your P2 part # 90885 has an internal problem that is causing the error messages you have mentioned so replacing it would be the right thing to do. The P3 part # 90195 is the next generation of the P2 and would be an excellent choice. Both the P2 and P3 are widely considered to be the nicest and most reliable options out there so it would be good in that regard as well.
